![]() ![]() If that's the case, I would think a Console command to disable the phantom Enter would be a possible fix. That makes me think it's not that naming behavior has been changed, just that a phantom ENTER has been added at the end of the classic naming behavior that causes the new subclip to transition from name column text edit to Selected Item. When you hit make subclip, for a split second the new subclip has the text edit box open and then it drops to being selected as though you pressed ENTER on the keypad. Having demonstrated the subclip naming behavior for a lot of people while explaining why this small change makes normal workflow impossible I've noticed something. #Quickeys and copypaste pro Patch7r patch thread pinned at the top of the forum they said the Subclip naming behavior is a user interface improvement that would never be addressed in a patch anyway and there are no plans to restore/fix it. Both of these seem absurd to me, so I'm hoping there's some method in 5.0 that will allow multigrouping to remain an automated process. Right now our options look like hiring another assist to make every subclip by hand or installing an extra bay with an older version of avid that actually works with multigrouping. Without quickeys to automate the subclip and AUX TC process, we're looking at adding hundreds of man hours making all the subclips by hand, time we do not have. Is there a key command I can integrate into my quickey steps (between steps 5 and 6) that will switch from highlighting the clip to text edit of the name column? That would be the best solution. Is there any setting I can change that will cause Make Subclip to default to text edit on the name column rather than just highlighting the whole clip? This means my whole multigrouping process is non-functional because avid never switches to the text edit box when I go to the Mark in and Timecode columns, so I cannot automate this process at all. In avid 5, when you make a subclip it creates a subclip in your bin and the whole clip is highlighted, but the text edit box of the name column is not active. In all past versions of Avid, when you made a subclip, it created a subclip in your bin and the text edit box of the name column was active. This quickey (with pauses in appropriate places so it doesn't run away) has worked on Every version of Media Composer I've used, going back to OS9 Meridiens.īut it doesn't work in Avid 5, as best I can tell, because it FAILS in step 5, make subclip. Fast Forward (Goes to next cut/clip with my composer settings) Return (goes to first item in bin, the new subclip)ġ3. Shift+Return (goes to last item in bin, the sequence)ĩ. I load the synchronized stacked sequence in the monitor and activate the first video layer, then I run the quickey, which does the following to create a subclip with AuxTC1 from the synchronized Stacked Sequence Master TC:Ħ. My method has always been to create a bin view with the following columns (left to right): Name, Mark In, Aux TC1. ![]() I have always used Quickeys to facilitate the multigrouping process. The cameras jam sync for Time code, but this is not always accurate, and the cameras are almost never starting and stopping at the same time, so simply grouping clips together is an impossibility, clips will have to be subclipped and then the subclips multigrouped. Most of our cameras are XDCAMHD (up to eight or nine of XDCAMHD cameras) but we're also integrating GoPro and AVCHD cameras. ![]() We will have to do a lot of Multigrouping from a variety of cameras.
